The Launch Pickleball Youth League is built to be structured, fair, and welcoming for players of all experience levels. Whether a child is brand new to pickleball or already competing, every player follows a clear pathway designed to promote growth, confidence, and teamwork.

Step 1: Launch Prep (Beginner On—Ramp – Optional)

The Launch Prep session is designed for new or beginner players who want a confident, low-pressure introduction to pickleball before league play begins.

This coach-led session focuses on:

  • Pickleball rules and scoring
  • Basic strokes and serves
  • Game flow and court positioning
  • Understanding how matches are played

The Launch Prep session helps players feel prepared and excited rather than overwhelmed.

Players with prior pickleball experience may choose not to attend the Launch Prep session.

Step 2: Flight Test (Team Placement Event)

All players participate in Flight Test.

Flight Test is a fun, structured play session where coaches observe gameplay to form balanced teams for the season. This is not a tryout or elimination event–every registered player is placed on a team.

During Flight Test, coaches focus on:

  • Overall skill level
  • Court awarness
  • Effort and coachability
  • Creating fair and competetive matchups

The goal is strong teams, fair competition, and a great experience for everyone.

Step 3: Team Assignment

After Flight Test, players are placed onto teams that remain consistent throughout the season.

This team-based structure helps players:

  • Build chemistry with teammates
  • Learn to compete together
  • Develop accountability and sportsmanship

Teams mirror the style of MLP play while remaining age-appropriate and coach-led.

Step 4: Weekly League Play

Once teams are formed, weekly league play begins.

Each week:

  • Teams will compete in structured matches.
  • Each match is a best of 3 game match against another team.
  • All 3 games will be played.
  • Every player participates.
  • All teams can also score league points based on exceptional sportsmanship, team-spirit, and determination.

The focus is on growth, teamwork, and healthy competition–not just winning.
